It's still freaking raining.
It's still freaking cold.
But at least I have a new pair of boots.
Never underestimate the power of retail thearapy.
Or the power of a new pair of shoes.
I wanted something to warm my spirits as much as to warm my feet. I was going to brave the rain and public transport chaos into the city but Tia Anna took me to the local mall instead. We got some great snow-hiking boots and bad espresso. I now feel a little better armed to deal with this incessent cold and rain.
Stupid, simple things - but they make me smile.

chicka - if its any consolation - its cold and miserable here too :)
Hugs, Sonya
Thanks honey - it does make me feel better to know you are all suffering with me :)
Hope you're getting along better in Westieville, I'm sure the wife-beaters and mullets will be second nature in no time.
Besos,
Tishlette
Hola Muchacha!
If it's any consolation, everyone I know who uproots themselves always have a really hard time to start with...they just hate admitting it out loud!
You'll be fine hun, I have a friend who moved to the UK a little while ago and we still call each other to have international cigarette breaks just so she can feel a little bit of home when she's blue! It takes a bit but keep your chin up!
Another piece of consolation (and here's where you get to know just how nerdy I really am!) Australia is entering the next cycle that follows "El Nino" called "La Nina" which basically means, after the drought comes the crappy cold and flood like weather :( and trust us, its REALLY shitty weather!
Keep your spirits up...sometimes you have to endure the crap to appreciate the great things!

Hola amorsito....
I saw Chile news today, and even though I had spoken to you and i had read your blog, it's like that saying 'a picture tells a thousand words' OH MY F#C*3N GWAD!!
The snow! the rain! the flooding! the poor poor people waiting for a freaken bus!!
Though mind you... just like the other bloggers, it's not much different from here at the present, without the snow, and instead of lack of busses, lack of trains.. oh and did i mention that a tanker has become a major tourist attraction on Nobby's beach?!!
Ok, so we have the rain, and some parts are flooded, and yes for our standards it's pretty bloody cold... but i truely feel for you! I can only imagine it would be a very, very wet version of Canberra weather but without the perks of being the Nations capital!
MMMMmmm.... ok, well having said all that I think i'll go & sit by my fire with a Chai Latte... want one babe? (pesa!!)
I'm glad your feet are warm, new shoes ALWAYS help... did i tell u i scored all the fab shoes from this amazing chick..????
MISS YOU LIKE MAD & LOVE YOU LIKE CRAZY... XOXOXOXO TAKE CARE & BESITOS TO ALL...
Hola amiga! Como estas usted? Before I put myself in a "lost in translation" situation, I have to say this first.....Lo siento, mi espanol es ido por la ventana! Please bare with me. Hehehe. :)
Sydney...Que pasa? Hay, que tiempo frio, llueve todo! Some days are not even ideal for walking in the streets coz its pouring down rain with lightning, thunder, gusty winds, umbrellas blown away and you can even experience that classic movie moment of getting splashed with water while a crazy 4x4 driver zooms down near the sidewalk. :O
Glad you got some fix of retail therapy while you're there. Que necesita usted...las botas!!! Hurrah for buying that! :)
Hoping you'll feel better and still keep on smiling. :)
La bebida alguna cerveza para mi! I'll exchange it for coffee by my cafetera or better yet a perfect shot of espresso. :) Take care!
Abrazos, :)
